Governor Wike explained that the media needs to start educating the Nigerian populace on the reasons why electronic transmission of election results must be in place so as to save the country’s democracy from crumbling.
The Rivers state Governor made this remark after he was conferred with the “Gold Prize for Exceptional Leadership,” by the ThisNigeria Media Newspaper on Wednesday, in Abuja (FCT).

This was made public in a statement released by his Special Assessment on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Wike stressed that the media has to take up the responsibility of enlightening the people on electronic transmission of election results, considering its importance to the democratic system of Nigeria.
As a watchdog of the society, Wike charged the Nigerian media to ensure the public enlightenment on the benefits of both direct and indirect primaries.
