A Nigerian Federal High Court seated in Abuja, on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources who is believed to be residing in the United Kingdom (UK). ayokinews.com reports
After listening to an oral motion by Farouk Abdullah, lawyer for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), presiding Justice Bolaji Olajuwon upheld the arrest request.
The court had earlier set November 3, 2021 as the deadline for the EFCC to report on its efforts to extradite Alison-Madueke back to Nigeria to face her charges, as well as for the case to be mentioned.
The case was halted on the rescheduled date since neither Abdullah nor Alison-Madueke were present.

According to NAN, the case was first assigned to Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, but after Ojukwu was transferred to the Calabar division of the court, the case was handed over to Justice Bolaji Olajuwon.
