Yoruba speaking monarchs in the Republic of Benin, have reportedly began the move to secure the release of popular Pan Yoruba Activist/Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho. ayokinews.com reports
This was made known in a recent report released by PUNCH which noted that the Benin Yoruba monarchs reportedly submitted an asylum request to the Beninoise President.
It was reported that the monarchs told the Benin Government to thread softly on the issue of Sunday Igboho and not allow itself to be used by the Nigerian government for cheap political points.

Speaking on the role being played by the Yoruba monarchs in Benin Republic, the spokesperson for Ilana Egbe Omo Oduduwa, confirmed the manarchs role by stating, “Yes, the monarchs have been very helpful. We are hopeful that Igboho will be granted asylum this week.”
One of the monarchs who spoke to the press on an anonymous status said, “We have started meetings with government officials and allies of the president. We will still discuss the outcome of the meeting with the press but that is not now.”
