The Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has told the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, to choose between the self secession or a regional government. ayokinews.com reports
Gani Adams noted that the liberation of the Yoruba people is a must while making it known that the current structure of Nigeria was designed specially for the Fulani aristocracy.
He further added that he prefers the total liberation/self determination of the Yorubas and that he wouldn’t stop pursuing it.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo made this known on Thursday, while speaking at the leadership training organised for the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) leadership in Osogbo, Osun State.
Gani Adams further called on all the good sons and daughters of the Yoruba race to stand up for their right as he reveals that the tribe is being deprived of its basic rights.
“We will not use guns or disrupt the peace of the society. Nigeria is made for Fulanis, Yorubas should wake up to the call and fight for their rights which they are being deprived of,” he said.
Speaking on the state autonomy request of some Southern Governors, Gani Adams rejected the request stating that it would separate Yoruba land from having a unilateral relationship as he claims the south west is a homogeneous region.
He further lauded the Prof Banji Akintoye for his diplomatic non-violence approach in giving the region self determination.
“Yoruba one voice in the diaspora will join ‘One Million March’ in the UN. Any reasonable person that sees the way Nigeria is going will choose regional autonomy or self-determination. We can’t continue to languish in poverty, in fear because our life is not safe.
“We can’t continue to be in a country where our future is not guaranteed, we can’t be in a country whereby we will be a second or third-class citizen,” Adams added.
