The Nigerian National Security Adviser (NSA), Mag-Gen Babagana Munguno (rtd), has faulted the porous nature of the Nigerian borders for the rising spate of insecurity in the country. ayokinews.com reports
Munguno made this known while speaking at the 8th session of the Cameroon-Nigeria Trans-Border Security Committee on Tuesday in Abuja (FCT).
The NSA lamented how the Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), has been exploiting the Nigerian porous borders in perpetrating its various terror activities in West Africa.
NSA Munguno said, “The most dominant transnational security issue remains the threat of terrorism perpetrated by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs).
“These terrorist groups continue to exploit the porous border areas to disrupt the livelihoods of innocent citizens in their communities.”
Babagana Munguno, futher commended the positive efforts of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in the fight against terrorism.
