Canada has discovered its first cases of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus from two (2) persons who had recently traveled to Nigeria. ayokinews.com reports
This was made known in a report made public by the Canadian authorities on Sunday.
It was confirmed that the two (2) reported cases of the Omicron COVID-19 strain was discovered in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Federal and Ontario provincial officials confirmed to the public that both patients are currently in isolation while public authorities continue the tracing of possible contacts.

A statement made by the Canadian Health Minister, Jean-Yves Duclos reads: “I was informed today by the Public Health Agency of Canada that testing and monitoring of COVID-19 cases has confirmed two cases of the Omicron variant of concern in Ontario.”
“As the monitoring and testing continues,” he added, “it is expected that other cases of this variant will be found in Canada.”
