Messi Wins Record-Extending Seventh Ballon D’Or Award

Argentine football maestro and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star, Lionel Messi, has won the 2021 Ballon d’Or award, making it his seventh win. ayokinews.com reports

Messi won the award while beating Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, who finished in second place.

So far, the 34-years-old Argentina football star, who left Barcelona for French club, Paris Saint Germain (PSG), had scored 24 goals in 28 league games this calendar year and also led Argentina to Copa America during the summer.

Among those who completed the top 5 positions are, Jorginho (Chelsea), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) and N’Golo Kante (Chelsea).

Lionel Messi now holds the record of being the only player with the highest number of Ballon d’Or prizes, as this makes it his seventh time of winning the award.

His career rival, Christiano Ronaldo, also has five (5) Ballon d’Or awards to his credit.
