The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has issued a press release regarding the siege being placed on one of its facility in Obio/Akpor LGA in Rivers state. ayokinews.com reports

Recall that AYOKI NEWS, had earlier reported the siege being placed on an alleged illegal bunkering facility by Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State.

It was learned that the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, met a stiff resistance from men of the Nigerian police force and also the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), who prevented him from demolishing the alleged bunkering facility.

In response to the siege being placed on its alleged facility, the NSCDC issued a press release titled, ‘NSCDC JETTY AT OGBOGORO UNDER SIEGE: “SUSPECTED TO BE ILLEGAL BUNKERING SITE” and signed by the Oguntuase Michael, the River state Public Relations Officer NSCDC.

The press statement reads: “It has come to the notice of the State Command of the NSCDC that the NSCDC Jetty at Ogbogoro where vessels, boats and barges arrested over illegal bunkering activities are kept awaiting court verdict has just been invaded by some group of persons led by the Chairman of ObioAkpo LGA for an alleged suspected site for illegal bunkering activities.

“It could be recalled that the said site has a history of being known for being a big hive of illegal bunkering activities in the past before the NSCDC Anti Vandal Team came and dislodged them and made there NSCDC JETTY where arrested products, boats, vessels and barges are kept awaiting court verdict on them. The Command taking over the site was to ensure no further illegal oil business continued there and it has been so!

“Evidence abounds that all the boats, Vessels and Barge as well as drums found there were either arrested by the NSCDC or handed over to the NSCDC by sister security agencies like the Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) and the Nigerian Navy for further investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Command is by this release correcting the erroneous speculations making rounds that the Jetty is an illegal bunkering site where illegal dealings in the oil business are taking place in the state.

“To this the general public is hereby advised to discard the assumptions and accusations associated with the NSCDC to illegal bunkering activities in the state, they are baseless, unfounded and untrue.

“The Command is ever willing to secure the critical assets in the state from vandals and will not hesitate to sanction any erring officer found wanting in line of duty!

“The public is hereby implored to report any erring officer of the command to the State Commandant for possible sanctioning.”

Thank you.

Signed:
Assistant Commandant OGUNTUASE Michael
State Public Relations Officer
For The State Commandant.
