The Lagos State Government on Moday, commenced commercial operation of the Blue Line Rail Mass Transit years after it was first flagged off in 1983.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, was seen taking an inaugural ride from Marina to Mile-2, as seen in a live broadcast by Channels Television and monitored by AYOKINEWS.

Recall that the first phase of the Lagos railway station was inaugurated by the late President Muhammadu Buhari in January.

The first segment covers a distance of 13 kilometers from Marina to Mile 2.

An approximate number of 500,000 passengers will travel on the 27 kilometre train route per day.

Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba, and Orile station are the five stations in the first phase.

The full trip from Marina to Mile 2 will cost N750, while zonal fares—for travelers who are not completing the full trip—would cost between the range of N400 and N500.
