Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted to Nigerians that he has done his best in curbing the rising spate of insecurity and poverty in the country. ayokinews.com reports
According to Garba Shehu, the president made this known during his meeting with some All Progressive Congress (APC) Governors at his country home in Daura.
President Buhari noted that the situation of things were worst in the country but upon his assumption of office, he has been able to make steady and continuous progress in securing the country.
“We have done our best and thank God for what we have been able to achieve with the available resources, otherwise we would have been in trouble.”
The president further added that the country’s security architecture has drastically improved as there’s now gradual stability in the North-Eastern part of the country compared to the previous administration.
“The subsequent development in the North-West is the most amazing, where people who lived together, spoke (the) same language and shared common faith started killing each other and rustling cows.
“I had to change the security chiefs and we had to get down to the fundamentals of providing security. If you look at the situation in relation to time and resources, you will find out what we have been able to achieve.”
Speaking on his administration’s economic experience, President Buhari noted that oil fell from $100 to $38 under his watch with a total crude output of 2.1million barrel per day dropping to 500,000 barrel per day.
“Intellectuals and historians should be fair to us so that those who are looking for leadership positions will not exploit the political ignorance or lack of knowledge of the people,’’ President Buhari further stated.
