Speaking at the presentation of a report on ‘Terrorism and Banditry: The Nexus’ by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) on Saturday in Abuja, NSA Monguno lamented how the various evolutions in the 21st century has made the fight on terror difficult.
The NSA further noted that intelligence such as human, technical, cyber, human intelligence derived from the community/society/people have remained very important in fighting terror.
“As long as an agent of government decides to franchise or eliminate the agent of community, you are depriving yourself of the most important oxygen – the intelligence from locals”, NAN reported.
Monguno further called on Nigerians to watch and learn from the experience of the developed countries so as to be able to collectively tackle security challenges.
“No matter how much you spend on defense forces, if you lack the relevant intelligence, you will just be like three blind men operating in a dark environment,” he said.
