Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, has advised Christians to actively participate in politics and quit viewing it as unclean if they want to make a positive influence on society. ayokinews.com reports
Diri gave the advise on Thursday at the end of the “Light Up Bayelsa Holy Ghost Rally,” a two-day event hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Yenagoa.
He urged Christians to get involved in politics rather than remain out or be apathetic about it, in order to influence decision-making for the better welfare of the people.
According to Diri, Nigeria is in critical need of individuals who can help it solve its numerous problems, and the church should not be complacent in the face of insecurity, corruption, and other vices that put the country in danger.
The governor declared that peace had returned to the state under his administration, and that the days of resorting to violence to resolve conflicts were ended.
