Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has on Tuesday, signed the N21.8 trillion 2023 budget into law.
This was made known by the president, in a live broadcast on Tuesday.
According to Buhari, the signing will prevent delays in the execution of the 2023 budget.
He encouraged the National Assembly to reevaluate its decision over his administration’s request for a N23.7 trillion loan.
Buhari also gave orders to the government’s Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and other institutions to speed up the process of income generation.
“As this administration draws to a close, we will accelerate the implementation of critical measures aimed at further improving the Nigeria business environment and ensuring the welfare of our people,” he stated.
The Senate has previously approved the budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
However, the proposed budget was boosted to N21.8 trillion from N20.5 trillion.
