Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife to Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has entered the Senatorial race for Imo East federal constituency ahead of the 2023 general elections. ayokinews.com reports
The Ondo state First Lady, told journalists while speaking in Owerri, Imo state, that her intention to represent Imo East Senatorial District is for the purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of her people.
Speaking with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists’ (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel in Owerri, Mrs. Betty noted that the Imo East has had the poorest federal representation in recent years.
According to her, the district had been ignored by previous Imo state administrations, and that she was out to make up for the lost years.

Betty pledged to address the alarming rates of infant and mother death caused by minor or large difficult pregnancies, a lack of operating health care centers, and a shortage of life-saving equipment.
She indicated that she would utilize her knowledge both inside and outside the nation to assist the district’s growth.
She claimed to have been keeping in touch with her constituents on a regular basis and that if elected to the Senate, she will improve the ties.
