The Bayelsa State Government has come out to reveal that it has uncovered a protest plot by some aggrieved members of the Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited over investment issues in the cooperative society. ayokinews.com reports
The Bayelsa state government made this known in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr Ayibaina Duba, on Monday.
The aggrieved members of the cooperative society were further warned to disembark on the purported riot/protest as the society isn’t a government establishment but a private set up.
The statement reads in parts; “It has come to the notice of the Bayelsa State Government that some aggrieved members of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited are planning to stage a protest to Government House, Yenagoa on issues bordering on their investments with the cooperative.
“Members of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited are to note that the cooperative society is a private concern.
“Government is neither a party nor a witness to the cooperative’s activities and contract with its members.
“Therefore, any protest targeted at the state government in respect of the cooperative is ill-advised, misdirected and must not be carried out,” the state government said.
