Former Nigerian international, Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed interest in coaching the Super Eagles.
José Peseiro, the Super Eagles’ current manager, is under immense pressure as a result of the team’s recent defeats.
There are rumors that if the Super Eagles lose versus Guinea-Bissau today, the Portuguese will be fired.
Amuneke, a member of the Super Eagles team that triumphed in the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994, has declared his interest to lead the group should the opportunity arise.
“I’ve never coached the Super Eagles, I’ve only gone twice to assist someone but coaching Super Eagles on my own I have not,” Amuneke told News Central.
“But of course Nigeria is my country and the national team we are all part of it and when the opportunity comes and Nigerians feel that we can add something to the national team of course it’s a welcome development,” he said.
The former winger presently serves as a consultant to Zanaco FC’s coaching team in the Zambian Super League.
He also formerly served as the squad manager for Tanzania.
