Speaking in a video recorded in the capital Conakry, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya of the Guinean Army, stated that the National Assembly had been dissolved.
President Alpha Condé, can be seen in the video being held by the Guinean soldiers who stormed the Presidential villa/house at the capital after which he was driven away to an unknown location.

Colonel Doumbouya, further declared that all entry into the country which includes land, air and water shut and that people should stay in their various homes till further notice from the new government.
Speaking on the reason for the military take over, Colonel Doumbouya noted that President Condé failed to fulfill his campaign promises to the people and that corruption had become a widespread activity under his leadership.
It should be noted that the African Union (AU) is yet to release an official statement about the unfolding event in Guinea.
