Airfares Rose By 97% In One Year – NBS Report

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released a study revealing that the cost of airline tickets has increased by 97.09% in a year.

The average airfare increased from N37,022.97 in November 2021 to N73,267.57 in November 2022, according to NBS.

“In air travels fare, the average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey, increased by 0.09% on a month-on-month from N73,198.65 in October 2022 to N73,267.57 in November 2022,” the report said.

“On a year-on-year, the fare rose by 97.90 per cent from N37,022.97 in November 2021.”

From N636.30 in October 2022 to N637.10 in November 2022, the average fare passengers pay for bus rides inside the city each drop grew by 0.12% month over month

The NBS said that, compared to November 2021, the average fare commuters paid for bus rides inside the city increased by 42.69% to N446.50.

The statistics also showed that the average fare paid by commuters for interstate bus trips per drop increased to N3,848.48 in November 2022, marking a rise of 0.07 percent on a month-over-month basis, compared to the figure of N3,845.81 in October 2022.

The NBS reports that from N2,644.50 in November 2021, the travel rates increased by 45.53 percent year-over-year.
