Athletico Madrid captain, Koke, has credited Argentina’s Lionel Messi, saying that there shouldn’t be any discussion over who is the GOAT (Greatest Player of All Times).
On December 18, Messi led Argentina to their first FIFA World Cup victory since 1986.
The one prize (the World Cup) that eluded the Paris Saint-Germain forward for the majority of his career is now in his possession.
Many people believe that Messi’s 2022 World Cup triumph in Qatar has put the long-running GOAT debate with longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo to rest.
Others believe Messi to be the greatest player ever, surpassing players like Argentina’s late Diego Maradona and Brazil’s Pele.
Koke has now joined the list of footballers who support Messi in the GOAT discussion.
The former captain of Barcelona has often proven himself, according to the Spanish midfielder.
“It’s the title he was missing. He’s the best player of all time. He has proved it with great regularity: goals, assists, making his team play,” Koke told Spanish sports daily Diario AS.
“He’s justly deserving of winning the [FIFA] World Cup, and we must congratulate him. There’s no discussion about who’s the best in the world.”
