A two-story structure collapsed on Sunday in the Bariga area of Lagos State, killing at least two children and injuring several others.
The tragic event took place in Lagos Mainland at Adeleye Street, Ladilak Bariga.
The building was said to have collapsed at around 9:09 p.m., and responders were quickly sent to the incident scene, according to the state emergency management agency (LASEMA).
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, said that two rooms in a house next to the two-story structure were damaged when the tank scaffolding of the building collapsed on it.
He added, “Unfortunately 2 children died from the impact. 3 adult males sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
“The Agency’s response team alongside Lagos State Fire and LASBCA are responders at the incident scene. Operation ongoing.”
