Wagner Private Military Contractor boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, on Wednesday, August 22, 2023, died in a plane crash, killing all ten 10 on board.
Prigozhin is believed to be on the private plane which crashed near Moscow.
Earlier reporting the news, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone claimed that the private jet carrying their leader was shot down by air defences in Tver region, north of Moscow.
In June, Prigozhin, head of the Wagner PMC, led a mutiny against Russian armed forces, seizing control of the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don and moved towards Moscow, with the stated aim of removing the military leadership.
However, the mutiny was stopped after Prigozhin reached an agreement with the Kremlin, and Belarusian leader, Alexander Lukashenko.
Under the deal to end the mutiny, all charges against Prigozhin were dropped and he was offered to move to Belrarus.
Since then, Prigozhin has kept a low profile only to appear in a video which suggested he was in Africa.
