American Hollywood actor, Will Smith, has been banned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Friday, from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years after he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage. ayokinews.com reports
Smith was also barred from attending any future events hosted by Hollywood’s top film studio for the next 10 years, although the board did not decide to rescind his best actor Oscar award, which he won last month for “King Richard.”
The Academy’s decision was made known in a letter issued by the Oscar’s president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson.

“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
