Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has said that African countries are reciprocating and interested in trading with Russia.
This week, the Minister visited Africa primarily to show Russia’s commitment to the continent.
In light of the conflict in Ukraine, the Russians also desire stronger partnerships.
Lavrov visited Egypt on Sunday, where he met with important figures including Ahmed Aboulgheit, secretary-general of the Arab League, and foreign minister Sameh Shukri.
With a population of 100 million people, Egypt is the largest importer of wheat in the world and mainly relies on supply from Ukraine and Russia.

Additionally, Lavrov will visit the Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
“The Africans are reciprocating. They are interested in having us. We never engaged in teaching them anything, but helped them overcome their problems so that they could live in their country the way they wanted to,” Lavrov told Russian state media in an interview before he started his tour.
According to him, Russia does not lecture Africans on how to operate their businesses, unlike the United States of America (USA), who he claimed are selfish and only care about their own interests.
