The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) assassinated a member of the Ukrainian negotiating team on Saturday, suspecting him of being a Russian spy. A number of media outlets and Telegram channels have reported this, albeit the information has yet to be formally confirmed. ayokinews.com reports
UNIAN reported that the SBU possessed proof of Denis Kireev’s treason, including phone calls, according to media sources.
During his detention, Kireev was allegedly shot and killed by the SBU. He was accused of being a traitor.
According to sources, Kireev was a creation of Oligarch, Andrei Klyuev, an associate of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych who fled to Russia.
“Kireev was actually killed right in the centre of Kiev. He was literally executed, shot in the head at the entrance of Pechersk Court,” Mario Dubovikova, an independent political analyst, said.
Kireev held the role of Deputy General Director of SCM Finance from 2006 to 2008. After then, he worked for GROUP SLAV AG Klyuyev, an Austrian corporation. He was also on the Board of Directors of Ukreximbank from 2006 until 2012.
He served as First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank from 2010 until 2014, pursuant to the Klyuyevs’ quota. Kireev was also in charge of the Fixed Income and Private Equity funds.
