The suspension of the micro blogging platform was made public by the Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, through a statement issued in Abuja and was also aired via it official twitter handle.
“The Federal Government has suspended indefinitely, the operations of the micro blogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria”
The minister has now ordered the immediate licensing of all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
The Nigerian government action is being followed after the micro blogging platform (Twitter) deleted the acclaimed racial genocidal tweet of the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari from its space.
