The Nigerian Senate President Ahmed Lawan, has broken his silence on the recent suspension of the popular micro blogging platform (Twitter) by the Nigerian federal government to air his view on the situation. ayokinews.com reports
Sen. Lawan aired his view on the suspension by clearly stating that Nigeria and Twitter needed to work together while stressing the importance of the micro blogging platform to Nigeria.
Senator Lawan made this known during a press briefing in Abuja, which was held to mark the second anniversary of the 9th Nigerian Senate.
“Our belief is that Nigeria needs Twitter just as Twitter needs Nigeria.
“Our expectation is that we will be able to resolve this issue.
“But beyond that, I am optimistic and I believe that all of us would have learnt our lessons.”
Speaking on the country’s security challenges, he said, “I believe this is the worst level we could get to. We cannot go beyond this level, it could only be better.
“i believe we are going to gave a reversal of this situation very soon. We shouldn’t despair, we shouldn’t be despondent. We should have hope and optimism that our situation will be better.”
