The United States government has reportedly called out the Nigerian government to reverse the recent twitter ban in the country stating that the ban was an infringement on the right to freedom of speech as embedded in the Universal Declaration of Human Right. ayokinews.com reports
This was made known by the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, Samantha Power. She revealed that the popular micro blogging platform (Twitter) has over 40 million Nigerian users while stressing the need for the immediate reversal of the twitter ban.
Mrs. Samantha stated; “There are nearly 40 million Twitter users in #Nigeria, and the country is home to Africa’s largest tech hub.
She also noted that the “suspension is nothing more than state sanctioned denial of free speech and should be reversed immediately”.
