Six States of the Nigerian federation: Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Sokoto have dragged the federal government to the Supreme Court over the conduct and collation of February 25th presidential and National Assembly election.
The States are requesting that the Supreme Court declare the election which brought in candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as null and void.
Basing their arguments, the States argued that the presidential election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) violates provisions of the Electoral Act 2020.
According to the States, they want the Apex Court to rule that the non-uploading of the results of each of the 176,974 Polling Units nationwide was not in accordance with the Electoral Act, thus making it void.
Recall that INEC announced candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the presidential election on Wednesday.
A certificate of return has also been issued to Tinubu upon his declaration as winner.
