The Katsina State government house was allegedly broken into by thieves, who carted away N31million naira.
A reliable source confirmed that the crime took place on Sunday, July 31, 2022, when unidentified individuals entered into the Financial Controller’s office in the Government House and stole money from a sack, according to Vanguard.
Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the State’s office was apparently also targeted for theft of N16 million in 2020. (SGS).
In connection with the theft, two government employees from the SGS office and a security guard were detained.
The Financial Controller, Salisu Batsari, was still present at the office when the robbery occurred, the source said.
“I didn’t see the CCTV footage but you know it’ll be part of what the police will request. But I heard that the footage revealed a man wearing a face mask getting into the office through a half-shut window,” he told Vanguard.
Al Amin Isa, the Director General to the Governor on New Media, told reporters that the money had been taken but would not disclose how much.

He noted that the police and the state government are already on top of the issue and that the offenders would be brought to book.
“When the first theft occurred, the government took measures to avert a reoccurrence but you know how cunning these people could be,” Al Amin said.
The suspects detained in relation to the theft have already been freed.
“When on Monday the State government found out about the theft, it quickly involved the police and an investigation was launched. The FC (financial controller) and some of his staff as well some security officers that were on duty on the fateful day were invited by the police for questioning,” the source said.
Speaking on why the suspects were freed, he stated that he was not involved in the police investigations, hence he was unaware of the reason they were released.
