Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal, on Monday, formally expressed his ambition to compete for Nigeria’s top political position (President) in 2023. ayokinews.com reports
Tambuwal would be pursuing his Presidential ambition under the political umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
After a high-level stakeholder meeting in Sokoto this evening, the former Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives made the announcement.
Mr. Tambuwal, speaking at the event, stated that as President of Nigeria, he is not only well equipped, but also ready to address the country’s various problems.
He claimed to have distinguished himself not only as Governor, but also as Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, without a single blemish or accusation of corruption.
Tambuwal joins a slew of other PDP presidential contenders, including Dele Momodu, a veteran journalist, and Gov. Mohammed Bala of Bauchi state.
Recall that in the 2018 PDP Presidential primary, Governor Tambuwal finished second to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
