The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate in the October 10, 2020 Ondo state gubernatorial election, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, has stated that the recently concluded Supreme Court ruling which favoured the APC candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, would not be the one to spell doom for the Ondo state PDP. ayokinews.com reports
The Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Eyitayo Jegede while upholding the election which brought in the ruling All Progressive Party (APC), candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu as Governor of Ondo state.
Jegede while speaking at the PDP support group inauguration tagged ‘Opomulero’, noted that the political party has a very bright future in the Ondo state and also the Nigerian politics at large.
According to Jegede, “After the Supreme Court judgement, some said it is over for us in the PDP but that is a lie, we didn’t allow that judgement to depress us we are waxing stronger.”

He further admonished members of the Opomulero group to return to their respective wards and work very hard so as to ensure the good success of the party in the next elections.
“We still have a lot of work to do, we still have Senatorial election, House of Representatives election, House of Assembly election ahead of us in 2023. That is why we must be focused as work harder for these election. Opomulero Group is the number one PDP support group. This is not for Jegede alone, it is for all of us and together we shall succeed.”
Also speaking at the inauguration, was the Director General of the group, Olasupo Olakunori, who reiterated the group’s commitment to the political progress of the PDP.
“We are ready and the work has begun to ensure that out great party the PDP , takes back it’s position in the South-West,” Olasupo said.
