Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Nigerian President’s Chief of Staff, will meet with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and other Nigerian university labor unions today. ayokinews.com reports
The meeting which being convene at the request of Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, regarding the continuing university lecturers’ strike, is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Villa’s Banquet Hall in Abuja.
ASUU’s roll-over strike, which began on February 14, was extended for another 12 weeks on Monday.

The funding of public university revitalization, Earned Academic Allowances, the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), and promotion arrears are among the educational bodies requests.
Renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FG Agreement and inconsistencies in the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System are among the others.
The meeting will be chaired by Gambari, according to the ministry’s spokeswoman, Olajide Oshundun.
