Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor-Elect of Anambra State, declared on Thursday that his inauguration on March 17, will be without fanfare. He stated that funds for fanfare will be utilized to solve the state’s most pressing development challenges. ayokinews.com reports
Soludo stated emphatically that he had embraced an open government style that would provide Ndi Anambra with openness and accountability, and that his administration would not spend the state’s resources on jamborees.
The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said he will proceed from the inauguration to his office and then to the slums in Onitsha and its environs, notably the Okpoko community, where he aims to clean up.
He said anyone nominated to his administration must be ready to work because “there is no time to squander,” and that he was committed to revitalize Anambra’s economy and put the state on the map globally.

“I’ll be heading to Okpoko immediately after the inauguration. I’ll put in eight hours of work immediately after the inauguration. Don’t expect fanfare because it won’t take place”, he stated.
Soludo pledged to finish the projects started by outgoing Governor Willie Obiano and then start new ones, as well as to find qualified people to assist the state flourish, regardless of where they came from.
“If a Pakistani will give us 24 hours of electricity, I will bring him and make him commissioner for utilities. What the people care about is the services they get and not necessarily who did it. We want to get good results here. What matters is the result. Accountability is a must here”, Soludo said.
