Muhammad Sani Zorro, a journalist, politician, and former legislator, has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian First Lady on Public Affairs and Strategy, by President Muhammadu Buhari. ayokinews.com reports
Other assistants to the First Lady’s office were also redeployed by the President, with one individual being fired.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Saturday by Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made the announcement known in a statement released on Saturday.
The statement reads in part: “At the instance of the First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, the President has also approved the immediate redeployment of three of the political appointees in her office to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, pending their assignment to some other government departments or agencies.”
“Those affected by the redeployment are Dr. Mohammed Kamal Abdulrahman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Health and Development Partners and Personal Physician to the First Lady; Hadi Uba, Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Wole Aboderin, Special Assistant to the President on Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs.”
“Also approved with effect from 11th February is the disengagement of Zainab Kazeem, the Special Assistant to the President on Domestic and Social Events, Office of the First Lady.”
Zorro, a well-known journalist, brings decades of expertise in journalism, publishing, and union leadership to the new position.
He served as President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the West African Journalists Association (WAJA), and the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ), among other organizations.
He also served in the Federal House of Representatives, where he led the committee on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Refugees, and North East Initiatives.
