In Afghanistan’s north-eastern Badakhshan region, a man and a woman were stoned to death for having illicit S3xual contact. ayokinews.com reports
They were stoned before a sharia court on Wednesday, as confirmed by two Taliban officials in the area.
Sharia law prohibits Muslim men and women from having s3xual relation outside of marriage.
The law also stipulates that a married man shall be stoned if he has s3x with a married woman and there happened to be four witnesses.
“They have confessed that they had illegal relations and they had done this two to three times,” the local official said.
Muezuddin Ahmadi, the head of the province’s information and cultural department, said the matter was being investigated and that the stoning culprits will face heavy consequences.
After seizing control in August 2021, the Taliban are striving for international recognition, mainly to get access to humanitarian aids and money stored abroad.
