The Russian parliament’s upper house has approved Moscow’s annexation of four Ukrainian regions.
The four regions are Kherson, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhya.
The Federation Council passed a law merging them into Russia with a unanimous majority, according to TASS.
The lower chamber of parliament ratified the accession treaties on Monday, after President Vladimir Putin signed them last Friday.
Putin will now formally sign the annexation of the regions by signing the bill into law.
The full integration of the territories into Russia is already covered by legislation that the State Duma enacted, and they also include a transitional period that lasts until 2026.
Many Western nations have accused Russia of breaking international law by condemning the annexation.
