Raymond Dokpesi, the chairman of DAAR Communications, has been freed in London, United Kingdom.
On Sunday, the UK authorities took the Nigerian media tycoon to custody.
Dokpesi had taken a Lufthansa flight (LH916) from Frankfurt to London, where he was arrested at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2.
Following the incident, his company’s management issued a statement.
According to the report, Dokpesi came from Abuja through Frankfurt and was requested to leave the aircraft before other passengers.
“Dokpesi was delayed at the airport for some hours before his passport was stamped and he was cleared by British Immigration officials.”
According to DAAR, Dokpesi’s arrest was unrelated to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s invitation by the British government to visit the country ahead of the 2023 election.
Dokpesi serves as the PDP Presidential Campaign Council’s Deputy Director-General for Technical and Systems.
