Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has referred to the US House of Representatives Speaker, Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as a demonstration of America’s impunity.
Lavrov linked Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan to the United States’ support and assistance in defending Ukraine from Russia.
Pelosi had on Tuesday night, traveled to Taiwan in defiance of China’s warnings.
A vague military reaction has been pledged by China, which sees Taiwan as a part of its territory, in the event that Pelosi’s visit may lead to a conflict between the two largest economies in the world.
Speaking on the development, Lavrov was quoted by the BBC as saying it “reflects the line we have been talking about in relation to the Ukrainian situation.
“This is an ambition to prove to everyone their impunity and to show their entitlement: I can do whatever I want.”
However, the ties between China and Russia have been gradually increasing lately.
