Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has declared that voters in his state will not support candidates who show no love and regard for the state.
This was said on Monday, at the commissioning of the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover by the former presidential hopeful.
Wike asserted that the people of Rivers State were prepared to use their votes in 2023 to fend off the state’s critics, emphasizing that the winner of their support must be a candidate who will benefit them.
He said, “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.
“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”
Wike’s statement comes amid the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Since the PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar chose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to be his running mate, Wike and Atiku Abubakar’s supporters have been at odds.
