In Lagos State, a dispute between followers of Oro and churchgoers led to the death of one person.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police public relations officer, disclosed the details on Twitter on Wednesday.
The official said that the altercation took place during a vigil organized by the Christian faithfuls.
“It’s clearly a murder case. Suspects have been arrested”, Hundeyin confirmed.
The worshipers of Oro were reportedly out at night for ritual processions, as had been previously announced.
They marched up to the chapel and turned down their lights while directing everyone to kneel.
However, the clergy and members of the congregation insisted, which sparked a conflict.
The Yoruba god Oro, makes an audible announcement of its coming by whirring and roaring, which may be heard in the surrounding area.
Oro walks with its followers while wearing a robe made of shells and a white wooden mask with blood on the lips.
