The Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, has praised the recent Supreme Court ruling on old naira notes and compliance by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), describing it as a victory for every Nigerian.
The Governor said that the Court ruling, which resulted in the reversal of the CBN’s hasty deployment of the cashless policy, is for the benefit of the nation’s micro-economy and the general welfare of the populace.
This was made known in a press release sent to reporters in Gusau, the state capital, by Comrade Zailani Bappa, Special Advisor to the Governor.
“Those who accused us of going to Court for the sake of the presidential and National Assembly elections, even as Nigerians groan under the policy implementation, are now proven wrong as we did not relent until we succeeded in achieving our demand to its logical conclusion.
“All Nigerians can now heave a sigh of relief on this matter, and we expect more cash to be in circulation to ease our pains, while those who were unable to replace their old naira notes with the scarce new notes will no longer lose their hard earned money,” he said.
He further applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his administration’s decision to distance itself from any effort to disregard the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter.
