Prof. Nneoyi Egbe, the Anglican Bishop of the Calabar Diocese, has termed Nigeria’s democracy a ruse and a big scam.
In a speech in Calabar, he gave the description and stated that it was his assessment of the situation in the country.
He stated that the political establishment’s lack of sincerity, as is demonstrated by their unwillingness to adopt the electoral crimes law, is one area of serious worry.
“No one would believe that up till today, this bill would still be in the drawers of politicians. It is obvious that they don’t want it passed.
“That’s the only way to guarantee their safety in displaying the lack of commitment to fighting the kind of corruption bedeviling the country.”

Egbe demanded that the bill be passed right away in order to give the next elections more legitimacy.
He claims that the political gladiators don’t appear to have taken any lessons to heart.
“The truth which we must address in Nigeria is he lack of sincerity and honesty in every fabric of our national existence.”
He argued that the democratic process was founded wrongly.
He counseled that as the nation moves slowly into another election period, everyone must vote wisely in order to select leaders who will stand together and advance love and peace.
