President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced that Nigeria’s reliance on imported finished products in the agricultural sector, would soon be a thing of the past, following the inauguration of the Dangote Fertilizer Plant in Lagos, which has an installed capacity of producing of 3.0 million metric tonnes of Urea per annum. ayokinews.com reports
President Buhari made this known while speaking at the plant’s commissioning ceremony at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State on Tuesday.
The fertilizer plant, according to the President, would help Nigeria achieve food self-sufficiency, create employment, boost foreign exchange inflows, and boost economic growth.

He praised Dangote Industries Limited’s Chairman, Board, and Management for taking the initiative in designing and constructing the world’s second-largest fertilizer plant and making it a reality.
Buhari expressed optimism that the investment in the fertilizer plant will repeat the Group’s prior successes in the cement industry, where Dangote Cement is the continent’s largest cement manufacturer, with operations in 10 other African countries.
