The former Chief of Army Staff and current Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has stated that he foresees new military bases being set up in the country amid rising security challenges. ayokinews.com reports
Buratai, who happens to be the Jagunmolu of Sakiland in Oyo, made the remarks on Saturday, while speaking at the Command Science Secondary School in Saki, Oyo state, where a road and a school gate was named after him.
He emphasized that a robust and dedicated force is needed to secure the Nigeria’s borders.
“In this era of terrorism, insurgency, asymmetric warfare, there is a need to spread the security agencies to take care of many volatile areas that need quick interventions,” NAN quoted him as saying.
“I foresee establishment of more military bases in the nearest future.
“Combined efforts will enable us to have a strong and committed institution that will protect our territory.”
