Nigerian Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, has revealed that the Nigerian government will be recovering millions of naira which was wrongfully paid to 588 medical doctors across the country. ayokinews.com reports
Speaking to state house correspondents in the capital, Abuja, Ngige noted that the alleged medical doctors wrongfully benefitted from a Medical Residency Training Fund which was meant for only a particular category of Nigerian doctors.
Ngige noted that the names of the alleged doctors was discovered after a thorough check was conducted on the 8000 names submitted by the Chief Medical Directors of Federal Government health institutions for the medical training programme.
Speaking further, the minister stated that some of the money which was wrongfully paid have been refunded by some medical doctors while efforts is underway towards recovering the remaining of the funds.
He stated that the delay in refunding the total amount of the wrongfully paid money by the medical doctors is the one holding back government Residency Fund payment.
