Abba Kyari, a suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, has stated that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) are responsible for his afflictions. ayokinews.com reports
Kyari revealed this when he appeared before an inquiry panel chaired by Joseph Egbunike, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, according to Daily Trust.
The former Head of Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari, said the outlawed IPOB and its armed wing were after him because of the onslaught launched against them in the South East, according to a report submitted by the panel to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, which was forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The tribunal chastised Kyari for breaking the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) social media policies, despite the fact that the officer had previously been cautioned against doing such.
“It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who vowed to destroy him, due to his onslaught against them in the South East,” Kyari said in the report.
However, the tribunal found his allegation to be unsubstantiated and ordered his demotion from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
