Bashir Machina has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Yobe North Senatorial District by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A verified authentic copy of INEC’s election report dated May 28, 2022, revealed that Mr. Machina received 289 votes out of 300 delegates, supporting the politician’s assertion that he won the primary and was therefore legally the winner.
The paper, which the electoral commission validated on June 23, 2022, omitted Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, who has been working to steal Mr. Machina’s mandate in cooperation with the party’s national leader Abdullahi Adamu.

Mr. Adamu had designated Mr. Lawan as the APC’s nominee for the Yobe North senatorial election scheduled for February 2023, asserting that a primary had taken place in secret and that Mr. Lawan allegedly won.
Despite the fact that Mr. Machina has been declared the winner by the electoral commission, he still anticipates further battles when INEC finally posts list of candidates running for office from other political parties in the coming weeks.
After losing the presidential convention of the ruling party, APC, which Bola Tinubu easily won on June 8, Mr. Lawan began making desperate attempts to take Mr. Machina’s ticket.
