Nigeria Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), has stated that Nigeria can no longer rely on military intervention to end insecurity. ayokinews.com reports
Buratai made this known while speaking at the combined 24th, 25th and 26th convocation ceremony of the Modibbo Adama University in Yola, Adamawa state, on Friday.
The former Nigeria Chief of Army Staff (COAS), was appointed earlier this year in February, as a non-career Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic.
The Ambassador noted that there’s also need for development in the northeast so as to be able to properly address insurgency in the region.

“Any country that does not ensure the development of its people would have security challenges.
“We should not rely on the military option as the only way to resolve our security challenges. We must address the ideological, economic, social, and political factors.
“My recent diplomatic foray has further sharpened my views on the urgent need for military, as well as non-military solution to the lingering and needless conflict,” Buratai said.
