Ethiopian Geleta Ulfata has won the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon for the year 2022. ayokinews.com reports
Ulfata won the 42km race against roughly 300 other competitors on Saturday morning.
He won the top prize of $30,000 in the competition (N12.5million).
In a tweet, Access Bank said Ulfata finished in two hours, eleven minutes, and 54 seconds.
Ulfata defeated Kenya’s David Barmasai and Emmanuel Naibei, who finished second and third, respectively.

David and Emmanuel also received a sum of $20,000 and $15,000 for their efforts.
Dagne Siranesh Yirga, an Ethiopian runner, was the first female competitor to cross the finish line in 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 50 seconds.
Participants gathered as early as 6:00 a.m. at the National Stadium’s Surulere gate to begin the 42-kilometer race.
Kenya’s Emmanuel Naibei, who finished second in the male category, won the Marathon in 2021, while Kenya’s David Barmasai Tumo won the 5th edition.
