Football Legend and former Manchester United star, Paul McGrath, has explained that the termination of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract and signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid has been a key factor in the Red Devil’s revival.
Recall that Manchester United terminated Ronaldo’s contract last year, 2022 and this was followed up with the signing of Casemiro last summer.
McGrath who aired his opinion via his written column on Sunday World said, “The two key pieces in the United jigsaw for 2022/23 have been selling Cristiano Ronaldo and buying Casemiro.”
“It’s strange to write that getting rid of one of the greatest players there has ever been was a good thing for United.
“But all the evidence is that it was just that. Within weeks of Ronaldo departing, his Portuguese team-mate Bruno Fernandes said ‘we are playing like a team now’.”
Manchester United who recently won the Carabao Cup after thrashing Newcastle United are currently ranking third (3rd) position in the Premier League table, taking a queue behind Arsenal and Manchester City.
